In comparison to the V3 the night vision is a lot grainier, which is mostly what I use it for. The day vision quality looks to be about the same but for whatever reason… I think maybe the infrared lights aren’t as strong and it looks brighter on the camera but I think they use some brightness and contrast effects post processing on the video to make it look lighter but I think there isn’t as much light so it can’t capture as much detail and the video quality is a lot more pixelated than the V3 for the night vision. There’s also not two different settings for the infrared on the OG, I don’t know how that might relate to the quality. The night vision is half decent but clearly worse than the V3, probably about half as good. I was looking at my fish tank last night with the OG in night vision and it looked like garbage, I didn’t even want to watch it. Then I noticed when it got bright in the morning I still had it on night vision mode and it looked better than just at night, so that kind of goes along with my theory that the camera doesn’t put out enough infrared light, or it can’t sense it as well. The OG night vision is good enough for security purposes I’m sure, but I mainly use the cameras to watch my mice play at night so I like a really nice picture and the V3 has a really nice night vision picture. Maybe there’s YouTube videos that show side by side so you can compare for yourself.
Also, the app is different for the OG compared to the V3 and the playback is a lot harder to navigate. The OG does have the spotlight which is the only plus so unless you need the spotlight then just get the V3. Or if you want the spotlight plus good night vision get the V3 pro, I haven’t tried the V3 pro but I’ve seen YouTube videos and the night vision looks the same as the V3.
Another thing I hate about the OG is the mount and how you aim it, it’s way harder to aim and adjust. It also doesn’t have a magnetic base like the V3 so you can’t just stick it to metal. But you have to use a tightening knob on the base against the bottom of the camera and it gets loose and flops around and it has a ball and socket type adjustable joint and it’s just harder to use than the V3 which works really nice as far as adjusting it.

I have only succeeded in getting streaming to work on my phone, all my other Wyze Cam2s stream just fine on my computer through Blusestacks. however, the OG either spends the whole time trying to “starting up a secure connection” or crashes the app. I never had these problems with version 2 and as a matter of fact, I still use them. I have only had to replace 2 of them in the past 3-4 years
I am reserving my full review pending the outcome of this issue.
HERE IS MY FULL REVIEW
As one of the early adopters that gave Wyzecam a chance when they were first starting out. Having owned 4 Wyzecam V2 and using them for the past 4 years outside as security cameras so I can monitor my property 24/7 365 from my desk inside. *Not built for outdoor use*
I became concerned when the features they promised were to be free for life suddenly required a subscription. The push-back was immediate, from all of us who felt betrayed. Some of you may remember those days.
Wyzecam finally relented and restored the feature set it originally promised to us. Over time with each update, those features slowly disappeared but the cameras still functioned. and did what we needed them to do.
As is to be expected nothing lasts forever, and it was time to start replacing those old cameras as they began reaching their end of life. I went looking for the v2 as it had served me well. Being retired, handicapped, and on a very restrictive budget.
I could not afford to take any chances. But, v2 had morphed into v3, and now Wyzecam OG. So I purchased a Wyzecam OG.
Wyzecam Lied.
So now I must return the Camera for a refund. But what’s the problem? Millions do it every day.
I must now ask one of my neighbors to print out the return label. Then find one willing to go to the post office and ship back the product. The worst is it took me a great sacrifice to save enough money for the camera. Came out of my food budget.
Here is the problem. I can see the camera is doing its thing with the app on my phone. And yes it is recorded to SD card. But, I can’t stream without a subscription I can’t view recorded videos without a subscription None of this was advertised.
Putting out my neighbors and calling in favors is not a big thing, we do favors for each other all the time.
But to be at the point in this world where you do not even own the things you purchase and are unable to control them without someone’s hand in your pocket every month is outrageous.
Now it will be a month before I am given my refund and then God only knows when I will be able to find enough money once again to buy another camera. One that simply does what you expect a camera to do. WITHOUT SUBSCRIPTION
Thank you Wyzecam for destroying another piece of my faith in humanity.
I feel sorry for this generation and those to come.
“Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.” Has never been so apt and apropos.
The End

My older surveillance cameras were frankly falling apart and the manufacturer was no longer supporting them, so I replaced them with a set of the very affordable WYZE OG cameras. Installation was quick and effortless and the software was much more sophisticated than what the previous brand offered.
In addition to all the bells and whistles for motion detection, sound detection, image capture and storage, and various alerts, what was perhaps most impressive was the picture quality on these little cameras. The night vision clarity in particular was amazing both for my family room and kitchen but also for my front porch and side yard area.
I have a feeling I’ll be purchasing even more camera products from WYZE to make my home even more secure. This is an amazing and multi-layered solution for home security without having to spend a great deal of money. Well done!

The pictures are really clear all the way across the street. That’s 100’ it takes better pictures than my $1,000+ Phone! I also bought the doodad to stick to my front window but it only has a 20% angle and my window is on same wall as front door. I’m sure it would have been fine with the screw on base it comes with it probably turns into a full circle but I’m not trying to make more holes here.
I would love it and rate a 5* easy but I cannot find any information on how to get it to do what it’s supposed to do. I have the WYZE app but all I could figure out was how to shut of the loud beeping that sounds exactly like our SMOKE DETECTOR. Probably a great sound for outdoors.
If anyone knows how I can get the setup information for using it not putting it up please let us unknowingly tech folks where to go. I can’t even figure out how to send a sample picture to this review.
Maybe in next REVIEW please.
I really like this product and I can’t believe the price and quality.
IF you are interested BETTER HURRY UP AND BUY NOW BECAUSE THE PRICE IS RISING BY THE DAY. Almost $3.00 since I ordered last week.
I almost forgot about this and I might take another star off because ON THE APP when I’m trying to do something almost anything it takes me to the page to buy CAM PLUS and CAM PROTECT. ($2.99 and $3.99 a month)
I used a MICRO CHIP CARD 32gb because the folks on YouTube said I wouldn’t need the Cam Plus to save my pictures.
But I can’t Monitor without CAM PLUS!! Can’t do anything.
Our neighborhood is at its worst lately so I guess I have to buy the PLUS because when they sell us a CAMERA TO MONITOR OUR FRONT DOOR AND HOMES THEY DO NOT TELL US WE STILL HAVE TO BUY MORE PRODUCTS TO USE IT.
5* for cameras pics and 2* for the Snake oil they don’t tell us about until we’ve unwrapped the box and are trying to get it to work.

WYZE Cam OG 1080p HD Wi-Fi Security Camera – Indoor/Outdoor, Color Night Vision, Spotlight, 2-Way Audio, Cloud & Local storage- Ideal for Home Security, Baby, Pet Monitoring – Alexa & Google Assistant
I bought these to replace a few Blink cameras. Blink has been really really flakey and very poor detection and notifications. I bought one of these to try this out as trial. It’s very cheap so why not?
This isnt a comprehensive review since there are far too many on you tube out there. This is just a quick summary of things that are noteworthy
1. Vastly superior to Blink. Why?
— Notifications are plenty and quick and can be customized. Blink is based on a HUB: each camera has to communicate to a HUB somewhere inside the house in order to relay the video to cloud and notify. This is not good. If ONE cam on the SAME hub is recording, the ENTIRE bank of cameras on the same hub is basically useless. So effectively you need one hub per camera!! Well Wyzecam is a stand alone system that connects directly to cloud without a hub. So every single camera you have in your home system is independent and can record and ship videos concurrently. Blink system is crippled with this older design and this is why i was missing a LOT of camera notifications. This is the primary reason I am now swapping to Wyzecam
— Video quality is superior and you can make out sharper details (like license plates!) Blink is HD too but the images are just subpar. You can adjust from HD to SD to 360p. Nice option for areas where your wifi is weaker you use 360p which seems very low res but it actually has a clean video .
— Live view is “quick” to launch and doesnt have a 30sec limit where you have to press “continue”. Blink is really annoying with this, even when u have usb-powered unlimited power.
2. Things that arent great about this wyzecam OG?
— Obviously Blink is fully battery powered with a lithium AA pair. This is excellent and battery lasts around 1 year for me thru Canadian winter. Wyze cam OG requires wired power. This is a big limiting factor.
— Secondly, You need a paid subscription per camera (or something like 179$ for up to 99 cams). ONLY when you get a paid subscription, this is useful. Otherwise you get snapshots of events, not video. You can store locally on SD card i guess but its a real PAIN to get it off the camera. ( you either remove the sd card which is not ideal — or from app wirelessly stream from sd card to internet to phone app but this is really slow buggy and unreliable). Blink gives you at least video “events” without pay.
— As i mentioned before video “live” view on blink has 30sec limit and is very slow to engage but wyze cam OG is is fairly quick and has no limits in time but all of this is prefaced on precondition of excellent wifi coverage. With marginal coverage, live-view is painful and the video is really really really choppy and unusuable. THE SAME can be said for Blink too. However, since Wyze has SD card option and doesnt need any hub? the advantage here is that WYZE can still record with spotty wifi and then once connected it will eventually upload photo or video events to cloud. Blink simply misses.
So to conclude, is there space for both blink and wyze cam OG in your space? yes. I would use blinkcam for areas you need occasional supervision where power is not available so full wireless setup is needed — Blink is only good for event feeds not live-streaming. I will not abandon Blink because of this. It does an OK job in areas that have less action. In heavy action areas, where you do have power, wyze OG is vastly superior and also costs less thank blink cams at the time of writing especially since you dont need a Hub.
I will add one more wrinkle to the review. I use both blink and wyze OG in my house for different tasks but i also use Googlenestcam for ultimate surveillance and live-view continual streams (the cost is a factor since these are 3x the price of blink/wyze cams). Having all three systems work together with its strengths is the best combo in my opinion.
Hope this helps!!!

Updated review:
After using the camera for a week, I have a few updates I wanted to mention. I was under the impression that even with an SD Card in the camera, it still required a subscription to view video playback. I was wrong, and as long as you have a supported Micro SD Card in the camera, you can view video playbacks without having to pay for a subscription.
This camera is VERY easy to setup, and although the video isn’t perfect, it’s good enough. The motion detection is also very good – although I wouldn’t trust it completely. Overall, I updated my rating from 2 starts to 4, so for the price, you can’t go wrong.
